Developments can, in some areas, sterilise important mineral resources which may be needed for future extraction.

To avoid this Planning Authorities may require a development to have a Mineral Resource Assessment to ensure that a development will not preclude future extraction.

Where a Mineral Resource Assessment identifies the need to extract a resource FWS have the expertise to undertake the necessary investigation programmes, remediation design, specification and contract Management to deliver the development on time and to budget.
